Linda Bendle

Linda's role

Linda joined Community Justice Scotland as the family member of someone involved with the justice system. Through direct experience, Linda has an informed opinion of how custodial sentences work and do not work. She also has strong views on how release and reintegration into the community can be improved, with the ultimate aim of preventing and reducing offending.

Linda is particularly interested in how the sentencing and rehabilitation of an offender impacts on their family, and in how those with complex needs can be better supported.

Background

Linda is Operations Manager of Heavy Sound C.I.C, a social enterprise specialising in engaging vulnerable and disadvantaged young people in music and creative arts projects.

Linda has over 20 years experience in housing and property matters, having previously been the Managing Director of a large letting agency.  Linda combines this in depth knowledge with first-hand experience of homeless issues.  Linda is on the Shelter Scotland committee and the Families Outside Board.
